Leadership is a rewarding challenge that can greatly enhance college life and help students be prepared when great needs or opportunities arise. The Office of the Dean of Students urges students to be active on campus and to avidly pursue their leadership development.
Dean of Students Leadership Opportunities:
The Administrative Intern Program is a yearlong course where students are paired with university administator mentors and given the opportunity to work in the professional workplace, manage projects and programs that benefit the University and/or campus community, and attend weekly management seminars that complement their internship experience.
The annual All-University Leadership Conference is a unique weekend retreat where students interact with campus administrators, faculty, and staff while learning valuable leadership skills through workshops, seminars, and speakers.
The Passport to Leadership program is an amazing series of free leadership workshops covering a wide variety of topics. No enrollment or advanced sign-ups are necessary (a few exceptions) and offers a certificate in leadership for participants attending key seminars. It is by far one of the most popular leadership activities on campus.
The Leadership Train is a searchable online database that will help you find great leadership opportunities tailored specifically to your needs and desires. Just enter a few criteria on the search form and you will find various opportunities offered on campus, including clubs and organizations, student government, internships, peer advisors, positions in housing, advisory boards, and many more.
The Office of the Dean of Students is committed to the development of its student leaders. We believe that a student who is engaged and involved at UCI will leave with a set of five Core Leadership Competencies through their roles on UCI's campus. The objective of these competencies is to verbalize the Office of the Dean of Students' commitment to preparing students to become transformational leaders, empowered to create positive change on this campus and in their local, national, and global communities.
